The rationale behind fear of flying

Personally I don't have any fear whatsoever when it comes to aviationales (although I do suffer a terrible fear of hights, but comeon lets be realistic; the concept of hights is completly lost at however many thousands of meters/feet an airplane travels). There is in any case a very rational thinking behind the fear of flying; this metal cylinder is traveling at however many hundered of knots, air recyceled and people packed together like sardines with nothing but faith in technology and life vests to keep them safe (mind you when flying from Umeå to Stockholm those life vests does seem as useful as an icetray in hell). I move to call those afraid of flying the pride of Darwin.
